If it takes a village to raise a child, then it takes a population to protect the Great Barrier Reef!
Ocean Rafting is proud to introduce you to our little piece of the population, who each do their bit, to help protect the World Heritage area of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
These individuals come from a range of backgrounds. Many from marine or environmental training and education, and many from completely different walks of life. No matter where they come from, they have all found a common bond, a common passion, and a collective love for what they do, and more importantly, where they do it. Through a range of environmental initiatives and programs, we partner with Traditional Owners, fellow tourism operators, government agencies, scientific institutions and not-for-profits to actively engage in various forms of Reef protection and intervention programs.
“We’re lucky enough to share the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef with visitors from around the globe. To us, this is not only an incredible privilege, but also a great responsibility. The Reef provides us an office, but also an ongoing sense of wonder, joy, curiosity and inspiration. Through all these projects we engage in, we have the opportunity to learn, to grow, to connect – not only to the Reef, but to others out there who share our passion to protect it. As individuals, we can’t change the world, but we can do our bit to help our backyard. As the representatives of the Reef, we have the ability to take this knowledge, this love, this connection and fuel our fire to influence our guests, even in the smallest way, to take a little bit of that wonder home- to share that wonder with their friends, their family. It is that wonder which can collectively help us as a population to preserve and protect this magical place”.
