Glassy glamour!
Another perfect day in the Whitsundays. With next to no wind, crystal clear waters and epic wildlife encounters, there’s nowhere else we’d rather be than right here in Queensland! These bottlenose dolphins casually cruised alongside us today, giving our guests the best seat on the sea!
These streamline swimmers can reach speeds of 30 kilometres an hour! They often surface to breathe, doing so two or three times a minute. Bottlenose dolphins are known for their curious, playful nature. Travelling in social groups, they communicate with each other by a complex system of squeaks and whistles, that can often be heard under the water!
Bottlenose dolphins track their prey through a process called echolocation. Using clicks and whistles, these sounds travel underwater until they encounter objects. These noises then bounce back to their dolphin senders, revealing the location, size, and shape of their target!
