Guess who’s back!
Our winter wonderland is coming alive in the Whitsundays! This week, we’ve welcomed back our favourite visitors, the majestic Humpback Whales! These gentle giants embark on a yearly migration to the warmer waters of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to their birthing and mating grounds! Travelling up to 10,000 km’s on their annual journey, the Humpback Whale is one of mother nature’s epic success stories! After being hunted to near extinction up until the 1970s, with mere hundreds of East Coast Humpbacks left, this population has seen an inspiring comeback with a percentage growth rate of around 10% per year! This year, we’re expecting to see over 35,000 individual whales migrate to our warm Queensland waters! To our friends in the southern states, join these gentle giants and migrate north for your holiday here this year! Jump onboard the original Ocean Rafting, and make the most of our exclusive whale watching permits for the ultimate encounters!
