The Whitsundays is located along Queensland’s central coast in north-eastern Australia, approximately 1120km north of Brisbane and 630km south of Cairns.
The Whitsundays is the heart of the Great Barrier Reef (there is literally a famous heart shaped reef!) and home to 74 magnificent islands, consisting of resort islands including Daydream Island, Hamilton Island, Hayman Island and Long Island, as well as iconic destinations such as Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, both of which Ocean Rafting visit on its daily tours.
The main towns on the mainland’s coastline and hinterland include Airlie Beach, Bowen, Collinsville and Proserpine. Ocean Rafting tours depart from Airlie Beach and Daydream Island on a daily basis.

Ocean Rafting has special permits which allow access to all areas of Hill Inlet, including the beach, whereas other operators only have access to restricted areas. This provides the best experience of Hill Inlet within the tidal sandbars of swirling silica sands, where you can relax and enjoy an optional fresh tropical lunch. A guided walk to Hill Inlet Lookout is also included in the tour, providing stunning views of Hill Inlet and the length of Whitehaven Beach.
Ocean Rafting’s fast, semi-rigid inflatable vessels are the fastest day boats in the Whitsundays, ensuring guests see as much of the Whitsundays in one day! For guests wishing to enjoy more beach time, the Southern Lights tour is the best option, whereas the Northern Exposure offers more snorkelling time.
