Cowtail stingrays are regularly sighted on both our Northern Exposure and Southern Lights tour. Seen at snorkel locations around the Whitsundays and daily in the shallows of Hill Inlet these cruisy guys are a hit with all of our guests!
The most distinctive characteristic of the Cowtail stingray is the large, flag-like ventral fold on its tail, which is especially prominent when the ray is swimming. The warm shallow waters and juvenile pray that live in the mangroves of Hill Inlet makes this the perfect habitat for this iconic Whitsunday species.
