New Recruits!
In a recent research expedition, Ocean Rafting, in association with Reef Catchments, Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Australian Institute of Marine Science and Southern Cross University, we’re excited to discover an astounding density of coral recruits in some unexpected locations! After catastrophic damage to the local Great Barrier Reef Marine Park from Cyclone Debbie in 2017, it’s a welcome sight to see the resilience and recovery of our underwater backyard in some of these locations. This site was discovered as part of the coral mapping project for the Whitsundays Reef Island Initiative and surveyed as a potential donor site for this years ‘Boats4Coral’ Coral Laval Reseeding Project!
