At Ocean Rafting, protecting our patch is our mission.
In David Attenborough’s words – “No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced”.
While we exist to share the beautiful Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef with visitors from across the globe, our motivation is to allow people to experience these amazing places. To enable people to connect, to learn, to appreciate, and to fall in love with the Great Barrier Reef, and to become ambassadors for these incredibly unique ecosystems.
Recently, Ocean Rafting opened our decks to to share the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park with the community, and to educate on what we, and our partners, are doing to protect our patch.
Joined by our partners at Yooribaya Cultural Experiences – Whitsundays and Reef Catchments, while also sharing some of our eco initiatives we undertake in partnership with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Project Manta – The manta rays of Australia and Coral Nurture Program, we demonstrated to the community how these initiatives and programs are helping to preserve and protect our patch, the #GreatBarrierReef. We also highlighted some of the incredible programs ran by our own passionate Ocean Rafting crew, including our interactive and fun Reef Seeker educational experiences and Tin’s 4 Fins – a recycling fundraising initiative to fund critical environmental and conservation activities.
For us, merely showcasing these incredible locations is not enough. As a High Standard Tourism Operator, we are protecting our patch by embracing our responsibility to care for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, and remain committed to sharing the World Heritage values of the Great Barrier Reef, while partnering with other operators and initiatives to protect this place for future generations.
